Klay Thompson was staggered by a question from a media member on Friday about the contention that his teammate, Steph Curry, is soft. What put an interesting twist on the issue was the suggestion that Curry’s skin color has something to do with the “soft” perception.

Here’s video of the exchange:

Thompson gave a strong defense of his teammate.

“I don’t think Steph is soft. You don’t go back-to-back MVPs and become an NBA champion being soft. I don’t think he’s soft,” Thompson said.

It’s somewhat of a bizarre question, and you have to wonder what led to it being asked. Certainly Steve Kerr has called his team “soft” in the past, but it wasn’t directed at Curry individually, and certainly not because of the star guard’s skin color.
