Texas police officer Roy Oliver turned himself in to authorities late Friday on charges of murder for shooting a 15-year-old boy last weekend. Hours later, he had bonded out with bail set at $300,000. Authorities had issued an arrest warrant earlier on Friday for the killing of Jordan Edwards, a black high school freshman who was shot while leaving a party with several other teenagers on April 29. Oliver, who is white, fired a rifle at the vehicle as it drove away, initially saying he feared the driver intended to drive into him but later admitting that the car had been driving away when he fired. The case has renewed concerns about police brutality and racial discrimination in law enforcement, with many drawing comparisons to the 2014 police shooting of 12-year-old Tamir Rice in Cleveland.
