Super Soul Sunday begins its new season on OWN Sunday, April 16 (11 a.m. and 7 p.m.) I am so delighted to see Oprah have a discussion with Pastor John Gray, associate pastor of Houston’s Lakewood Church.

The first time I saw Pastor John Gray was when I was scrolling through the channels. What grabbed my attention was his style of preaching. He was at a church conference and had the crowd in laughter.

I was totally impressed because he wasn’t a beat-you-over-the-head with the bible kind of preacher. He even jokingly says “I am not your daddy’s preacher!” Don’t get me wrong–he brings the word but he does it in a flair which can be understood by all ages.

The thing I love most about Super Soul Sunday is the candid discussions between Oprah and the guests. It gives viewers an opportunity to see guests in a more personal way, different from what we see on television.

Super Soul Sunday is also a platform for guests to open up, or at least release what they have been struggling with or feelings they’ve been holding inside for many years. In the end, viewers realize they are just people, like everyone else.
